2024 Excellence Case Sharing Award (ECSA)
Theme: Wound Management of Burn Injury
Thermal and Non-Thermal IIa, IIb and III among children and adult.
The Excellence Case Sharing Award is launched to recognise the contribution of healthcare professionals in Asia Pacific with regards to wound healing. Through this platform, clinicians can showcase their knowledge, practices and skills in wound healing management cases while improving patient quality of life as well as value-based healthcare.
An estimated 117 million burns occurred in Asia between 1990 to 2019. South and Southeast Asia accounted the highest with 30-40% of all global cases, deaths, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Men were found to suffer DALYs than women. Alarmingly, those under 5 years were most impacted by DALYs, despite the highest burn rate among the 5-14 years old. The elderly 70+ year olds accounted the highest death rate and mortality ratio1.
Addressing burn care interventions, remains crucial to reduce the burden of burn morbidity and mortality in the region.
